My final collegiate cycling season has been one huge learning adventure. From the beginning my goal was to learn about tactics and have some fun with my friends and teammates. Despite my lack of results, I could not have had more fun.
This past weekend was the ACCC Conference Championship. I flatted on the 3rd lap of the road race and was dumbfounded when the wheel truck refused to pace me back to the field. What's the point of giving me a wheel if you are going to leave me out of the race? Anyway, mad props to Ben Warren who gobbled up all the primes while on a 4 lap solo break. He somehow found the energy to jump the sprinters in the field kick to finish 3rd. Good stuff. My DNF left me plenty fresh for the Sunday's criterium. My main objective in the crit was to look after Reid so that he could mark Navy's Andrew Christian in order to protect his lead in the overall Div 1 standings. Despite some confusion about the lap count, I was able to lead-out Reid to a 2nd place in the field sprint well ahead of Navy's team captain. Oh and Reid got a fancy pink jersey to designate his overall D1 conference win. Look for his maillot rosa on a ride in the near future...

My collegiate racing novel has been written. It's been fun... what's next? who knows...
